Assyrian Neo-Aramaic[edit]
Etymology[edit]
From Akkadian 𒀀𒊩𒄷 (/laqlaqqu/, “stork”); compare also in Arabic لَقْلَق (laqlaq) and Persian لکلک (lak-lak). It is possible that the term is borrowed from Arabic which itself may have come from Akkadian via an unattested previous form of Aramaic.
