Inherited from Sauraseni Prakrit 𑀞𑀸𑀯𑀭 (ṭhāvara), from Sanskrit स्थावर (sthāvara, stationary, fixed), from Proto-Indo-Iranian *staHwarás, from Proto-Indo-European *steh₂w-e-ró-s. Doublet of स्थावर (sthāvar). Cognate with Punjabi ਠੌਰ (ṭhaur).
