Inherited from Proto-Dravidian *mūnṯu (three). Cognate with Tamil மூன்று (mūṉṟu), Telugu మూడు (mūḍu), Malayalam മൂന്ന് (mūnnŭ), Tulu ಮೂಜಿ (mūji).
