Borrowed from Classical Mongolian ᠵᠠᠰᠠᠭ (ǰasag), from Middle Mongol ᠵᠠᠰᠠᠭ᠋ (jʾsʾɣ̈ /⁠ǰasaɣ⁠/). Compare Mongolian ᠵᠠᠰᠠᠭ (ǰasag) / засаг (zasag); also Tatar ясак (yasaq), Russian яса́к m inan (jasák, in-kind tax collected from the indigenous peoples of Siberia), etc.

Doublet of ᡩᠠᠰᠠᠨ (dasan, politics).
