Javanese[edit]
Etymology[edit]
Unknown, probably from Old Javanese *wandha (compare awandha, kawandha (“headless trunk; a kind of cloud”, literally “big barrel”)), from Sanskrit कबन्ध (kabandha, “barrel; headless trunk”), बन्ध (bandha, “pack, bundle”). Doublet of ꦧꦤ꧀ꦢ (banda, “body”). (This etymology is missing or incomplete. Please add to it, or discuss it at the Etymology scriptorium.)
