- (Leusden) First attested as achtevelde in 1309. Compound of Middle Dutch achte (“forest preserve, lordly possession, legal districht”) and velt (“field”). Compare Acht, Achtmaal and Echt.
- (IJsselstein) Compound of achter (“back, behind”) and veld (“field”).
