Translations: Reconstruction: PIE <-> English[edit]

Hello, I find it difficult to look up PIE words in order to find their English "translations", and also to look up English words in order to find their translations in PIE (NOT etyological roots! (which may or may not be the case, for each word). The word list of PIE words seems to have no A .... Z index but is just a long list subdivided by I think 200 per page, and a list of English words for which PIE translations exist does not seem to exist at all, and I believe (?) it is also not possible to add PIE as a "translation" in the translations section of a word entry (where other translations show up, such as French etc.) I understand Wiktionary is not a "translation dictionary" in that sense, but I guess we all it's a limitation in everyday use that what I described above is not easily possible. 92.184.124.101 01:37, 6 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hello I am annoyed with myself to ask[edit]

I do not know much about PIE though I happened upon a phrase word sometime ago, I opinionated that I booked marked it though did not, it is a phrase that was sometype of sense, I remembered looking up sent and related phrases at the time and opinionated possibly sent was a sense in reference to the side of the face, birds have feather on the side of their face that act similarly to whiskers of a cat and aid in directional correction... though it was not a term derived from sent.... could anyone help out? 97.94.12.25 14:29, 23 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

West Scandinavian incorrectly marked as having proto-language?[edit]

The DOM for the West Scandinavian element in the family tree looks like:

<span class="familytree-family familytree-hasprotolang" title="Language family"><a href="/wiki/Category:West_Scandinavian_languages" title="Category:West Scandinavian languages">West Scandinavian <span class="familytree-code">(gmq-wes)</span></a> <span class="familytree-icon">F</span></span>

and in particular one of the class names is 'familytree-hasprotolang'. But no proto-language is shown. T039mwftulnm0l (talk) 02:01, 6 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

Oh wait... is it that the proto-language is shown as the parent? That's not the same format as many of the other entries, where the proto-language is a child of the language family... Or maybe I'm just not getting something about the organization. :) T039mwftulnm0l (talk) 02:05, 6 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
