    Thus, given the differences in surangular morphology compared with Shonisaurus (e.g. compare the surangular morphology with S. popularis figured in [7], Fig 7a) along with the stratigraphic and geographic separation, it is highly unlikely that Ichthyotitan severnensis is an example of Shonisaurus or Himalayasaurus, which would also suggest an extremely long stratigraphic record and a much wider palaeogeographical distribution than what is known for both genera.
