Etymology

[edit]

From Old High German (*)endi, northern variant of enti, with Ripuarian velarisation. The final -k is unetymological and due to analogy.

[edit]

Noun

[edit]

Enk n (plural Enger, diminutive Enkche)

  1. (most dialects of Ripuarian) end

Usage notes

[edit]
  • The form Enk, Eng is preserved even in dialects that have widely reverted the velarisation in word-final position.
