Borrowed from Italian Marocco, from Portuguese Marrocos and/or Spanish Marruecos, from Arabic مُرَّاكُش (murrākuš), probably from Berber; compare Moroccan Amazigh ⴰⵎⵓⵔ ⵏ ⴰⴽⵓⵛ (amur n akuc, literally Land of God).
