From Italian surname Italian Pugliese (from Italian pugliese meaning "a native of or an immigrant originating from w:Apulia, region of S.E. w:Italy in the w:Adriatic Sea and the w:Gulf of Taranto") + Serbo-Croatian -vić (Slavic patronymic suffix from Proto-Slavic *-vъ + *-iťь).
