Etymology[edit]

Literally "possessing hundreds of cattle", from *satam (hundred), from Proto-Iranian *catám, from Proto-Indo-Iranian *ćatám, + *guš, *gāuš (cattle), from Proto-Iranian *gā́wš.[1]

Cognate with Old Persian 𐎰𐎫𐎦𐎢𐏁 (Θataguš).
