Etymology[edit]
From Proto-Indo-European *(s)ḱeh₃w-ō ~ *(s)ḱuh₃-nés (“(one's) shadow, reflection”), from *(s)ḱeh₃w- (“shadow”) + *-ō. Alternatively from or influenced in meaning by Proto-Indo-European *(s)kewh₁- (“to perceive, observe”)[1].
