Sometimes compared to Proto-Turkic *em- (to suck), Proto-Yukaghir *iw- (to suck), whence Northern Yukaghir иби (ibi), and Proto-Chukotko-Kamchatkan *inmə- (to swallow), whence Alutor инмын (inmən).
