@Per utramque cavernam: It is formally possible to derive the variant почва from the genitive plural подъшьвъ > почевъ, unlikely as it seems. Compare изъ подъшевъ in the Hypatian Codex.

There is also a derivation from *podъšьvь (Czech počev m.), which would yield *подшевь ~ *подошви, whence почва and подошва with a transfer into a-stem. Guldrelokk (talk) 01:15, 23 December 2018 (UTC)
