Use of 則 as a particle as an equivalent of 即?[edit]

I was under the impression that 則 as a copula-like particle was equivalent to 即, but can't seem to find anything about it. Indeed phrases with 即 show variants with 則 instead (e.g. 色則是空 空則是色), and Korean has a special reading for 則 as a particle that is identical to 即 in pronunciation. It does seem like CC sources do use them as equivalents, thoughts on this?

(edit: seems to be post-Han CC usage)
