red[edit]

Why is it called the Red Square? Because Russia adopted state capitalism for a while? --Romanophile (contributions) 12:18, 12 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

It's sort of a mistranslation. The Russian adjective кра́сный (krásnyj) does mean "red", but when the square was named it had the meaning "beautiful" (now archaic). Ƿidsiþ 07:00, 13 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
