I've discovered an earlier citation. In the late 1980s, somewhere between 1986 and his demise in 1989, the ex-Monty Python comedian Graham Chapman delivered a series of talks at British Universities, which included a section on "The Dangerous Sports Club". Transcripts from these talks were included in the 2005 book "Calcium Made Interesting" (255, Sidgwick & Jackson) ed. Jim Yoakum.

Since Chapman died in 1989, this citation must necessarily predate the oft-repeated Point Break mention by at least two years.

The citation (p6) reads "...quite a variety of people; anything from farmers... stockbrokers - all sorts of people - but they all had one thing in common, and that is they liked to do things which scared them a bit. They were Adrenalin junkies, basically."
