What goes wrong with buffalo.jpg?

This page is really quite a mess, -and on other wikti's too!- mostly because the word is so ill-defined as it can refer to (at least) three different animals and does so differently in every language... I think we need to start making an inventory of how it is used in various languages before you can make sense of it.

Herds[edit]

The phrase "Buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo" is grammatically correct, and rather cool. It means something like "The bisons (which are from the town of Buffalo), which the bisons from the town of Buffalo deceive, deceive the bisons from the town of Buffalo." --Keene 18:24, 6 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
