If 'kook' is a synonym for Charlatan, then that meaning is missing from the article on 'kook'. In my experience I don't think that's the case so out it goes for now.

crackpot, lunatic, nut, crank, politician (Atleast this one was a little humorous) and grifter are certainly not synonyms of 'charlatan', hence I shall revert this edit on the pretext of blatantly obvious vandalism. Sherlock Holmes plus Hercule Poirot 13:27, 31 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Agreed. Kooks, crackpots, cranks, nuts and lunatics tend to passionately believe in their ideas. The implication of "charlatan", like "fraud", is that they engage in deliberate deception. --Florian Blaschke (talk) 20:43, 21 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
