   I started in insert after "intended", in my own def-contrib,

, or construed as intended,

but i guess it really goes without saying that the speaker's mistaken belief of intention involves a misjudgment of social reality, not an erroneous understanding of the word's meaning. (And perhaps a slightly under-critical "feminist correctness") on my part.
