Etymology[edit]

Need etymology of definition meaning "tuberculosis." 24.93.170.200 08:06, 18 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Tuberculosis was the original meaning in English. First attested in English in 1398, meaning "wasting disease", < Old French consomption (wasting) < Latin consumptio (a using up). The modern sense of the using up of material is from about AD 1535. —Stephen 12:38, 18 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
