the English definition indicates that "diastole" is uncountable -- however, one of the quotations listed for the first definition is in the plural -- and I don't see why they wouldn't be counted ... Also, its complement, "systole", is not listed as uncountable 206.177.43.71 15:25, 13 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

It says "chiefly" uncountable, meaning it is not very often used in the plural. Compare -ness words; while traditionally considered uncountable, you may often be able to make a case for words such as kindnesses. User: PalkiaX50 talk to meh 15:33, 13 August 2014 (UTC)Reply
