I'm not sure whether "dodo" (child language) should be viewed as an adverb or a noun. The literal translation of Dutch Wil je dodo doen? is Do you want to do "dodo"?, which hints at "dodo" being an adverb. But I'm absolutely unsure about this. D.D. 20:53 May 30, 2003 (UTC)

Wil je slaapjes doen? (a noun)

Wil je slaperig doen? (an adverb) Ben je slaperig? is a better example. (Are you sleepy?)

Thanks for the examples, Polyglot. I agree that the third one (Ben je slaperig?) comes closest to Wil je dodo doen, but I haven't been able to find an "adult" version of dodo. However, it seems that the word is classified as a noun in French. The Petit Robert gives the example of aller au dodo, so le dodo must exist (even if it's only in the contraction of a le = au). What about Flemish? AFAIK de dodo doesn't exist. On the other hand, Flemish took this word from French, so it seems to me that it should be classified as a noun too. Just out of curiosity: do you know of any Dutch/Flemish nouns that cannot be preceded by an article? D.D. 20:06 Jun 7, 2003 (UTC)
