Etymology[edit]

A previous etymology bruited a connection to placer, alluvial deposit. It is not highly likely. Emplacement is apparently a term of broad application in geology not limited to such alluvial deposits. Also, placer is a word of Spanish descent, unlikely to have been combined with -ment. DCDuring TALK 02:10, 6 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
