intensifier[edit]

Sense: (linguistics) A modifier, such as very, terribly, wicked or damned, that has little or no meaning of its own and serves to enhance and give additional emotional context to the word that it modifies.

I have added: (linguistics) A word or particle that heightens or lowers the intensity of meaning of an item.

Is the RfDed sense more accurate or is it misleading? The added sense is from SIL Glossary of Linguistic terms. DCDuring TALK 18:30, 19 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

Deleted. The sense given by DCDuring is more accurate. — TAKASUGI Shinji (talk) 05:15, 27 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

punctuation[edit]

easy reads:

"intensifier for large magnitudes. This project will cost 15 million dollars, easy." Is that punctuation O.K. for an intensifier of the magnitude? --Backinstadiums (talk) 15:34, 2 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
