Scottish coins[edit]

Note that the OED reports a source in its etym deriving the term from the (deprecated template usage) louis d'ors but, as far as Wikipedia is aware, those came in the 1640s and the Scottish sources are two centuries earlier. Jamieson's note is here and mentions the louis d'or but does not derive the name from Louis XIII but Louis XI, who never issued it. — LlywelynII 15:36, 20 April 2016 (UTC)Reply
