The terms nasal congestion and nasal obstruction
[edit]Wikipedia has the terms nasal congestion and nasal obstruction as synonyms.(W:Nasal congestion). However, Merck Manual Home Edition has them as two distinct concepts, as follows from this quotation:
- The most common symptoms of chronic sinusitis are nasal obstruction, nasal congestion, and post-nasal drip.[1]
The definition of nasal congestion specifies the inflammation of the blood vessels as the cause. I have defined nasal obstruction as an obstruction without specified cause, which is consistent with certain definitions of "nasal obstruction" found on the web. A refinement and/or sourcing of the definition is still needed.
