Estonian Etymology

My source gives the etymology as "algskandinaavia *warjōn", and "algskandinaavia" translates to something like "pre-scandinavian", or "beginning scandinavian". I presume this is Proto-Norse. However, Proto-Norse is attested, while this is a reconstructed term. For this root, the Proto-Germanic is "*warjaną", and the Old Norse is "verja".

If this is Proto-Norse though, what would the Futhark of "*warjōn" look like? I got "ᚹᚨᚱᛃᛟᚾ", but is that correct?

If it is attestable, it needs to be put under a separate etymology section, as it is certainly from (and thus a doublet of varjo), not a loanword from Russian. —Mahāgaja · talk 14:53, 2 August 2021 (UTC)
