Marvel comic book character sense Language Lover 00:29, 6 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

I've removed that sense, but I've now tagged the "resident of Michigan" sense. I lived in Michigan for more than fifteen years, and don't remember ever hearing that. (University of Michigan students, especially athletes, are Wolverines, as are fans of U of M sports teams; but that doesn't extend to all the state's residents, many of whom prefer the Michigan State University Spartans, or another school's teams, or none at all. And I would definitely capitalize it, myself, though I'm not sure if everyone would.) —RuakhTALK 02:23, 6 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
Oh, but I should note that U of M teams are so called because Michigan is the "Wolverine State", so it's not flat-out implausible; and DCDuring has already added one cite. —RuakhTALK 10:40, 6 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
It can be cited much more easily as Wolverine. DCDuring TALK 11:47, 6 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Wolpertinger

[edit]

In Bavarian phantasy exists the „Wolpertinger“ – an animal composed of other animals` parts; Maybe a dark memory of Wolverines/gluttons, which disappeared in Germany, which were known by the ancestors, and at the try to describe the Wolverine, the imagination became independent in the descendants. --134.2.189.38 10:07, 13 December 2017 (UTC)Reply
