Etymology[edit]
- (Almere) Compound of water (“water”) and wijk (“neighbourhood, quarter”). So named to contrast the neighbourhood with Stedenwijk.
- (Lelystad) Compound of water (“water”) and wijk (“neighbourhood, quarter”). All the neighbourhood's sub-neighbourhoods are named after various bodies of water.
- (Noord-Holland) Compound of water (“water”) and wijk (“neighbourhood, quarter”). The neighbourhood's street names all end in water.
