arogenic acid (uncountable)

  1. An intermediate in the shikimate pathway formed by the amination of prephenic acid

      Phenylalanine, the precursor for phenylpropanoid biosynthesis, is then formed in the plastid from arogenic acid (Figure 11.4b). Arogenic acid can also be used to form another aromatic amino acid, tyrosine.
