From -tsá (noun stem meaning grasp with teeth or beak), from the root -TSAʼ (to grasp with teeth), from Proto-Athabaskan *tsαɢ, from Pre-Proto-Athabaskan *tsəɢ (act with teeth by biting); compare the verb yiyiitsah (he grasps it with teeth or beak).
