Etymology[edit]
Borrowed from Javanese ꦧꦿꦩꦕꦺꦴꦫꦃ (bramacorah, “criminal; defendant”), from Old Javanese brama, brahma (“anger”) + corah, cora (“thief”), from Sanskrit ब्रह्मन् (brahman, “the Absolute”) + चोर (cora, “thief”).
