counterattracted

  1. simple past and past participle of counterattract
    • 1941, John C Hogg, Charles L Bickel, Elementary General Chemistry, page 110:
A solid is an enormous group of molecules held together in a regular pattern by their mutual attractions. Water molecules also attract the molecules of the solid and so tend to break up the pattern and bring the molecules into solution. Molecules in solution are then counterattracted by those in the solid.
