Etymology

From dez- +‎ învăța, or less likely from a Vulgar Latin root *disvitiāre, from *vitiāre (in the sense of "accustom, habituate, familiarize"), from Latin vitium (vice). Compare Aromanian dizvets, dizvitsari, cf. also Italian divezzare, svezzare.
