Etymology[edit]

hemato- +‎ -lite, from Ancient Greek αἵματος (haímatos, blood) and λίθος (líthos, stone), in allusion to its blood-red color. Not chemically related to hematite.

  1. (mineralogy) A trigonal-pyramidal mineral containing aluminum, arsenic, hydrogen, magnesium, manganese, and oxygen.
