Usage notes[edit]
A teacher in a learning institution is usually called opettaja. A coach of a sports team or an individual is valmentaja. Typical features of the work of a person called kouluttaja include:
- works with adults
- teaches work-oriented skills
- trainer-trainee relationships are relatively short
- training is often given in temporary premises
- a special case are the military instructors, which are often called kouluttaja
