From Proto-Albanian *laurā, from Proto-Indo-European *leu, etymologically identical with Lithuanian laure (“dirty person”).[1]

Etymology 2[edit]
From Proto-Albanian *laurā, a rebuilt form after the stem in -eh₂, from Proto-Indo-European *leh₁w- (“stone”). Cognate to Ancient Greek λᾶας (lâas, “stone”) and Old Irish lie (“stone”), and perhaps Old Armenian լեառն (leaṙn).[2]
