Hawaiian[edit]
Etymology[edit]
Suggested by Schütz to be a shortening of ʻīlio "dog" extended to any quadruped,[1][2] thus from Tuamotuan kurio, a variant of kuri from Proto-Polynesian *kuli.[3][1]
