Borrowed from Old Church Slavonic облѫкъ (oblǫkŭ), from об- (ob-) +‎ лѫкъ (lǫkŭ, bow), from Proto-Slavic *lǫkъ. Compare Aromanian ublãncu, blãncu, cf. Slovene oblúk.
