- Samples of the exhaust gases, taken over mercury, were analysed by the ordinary volumetric methods, the CO2 being absorbed by potash, the oxygen by pyrogallol, the CO by an acid solution of cuprous chloride, and the hydrogen by palladianized asbestos.
