Albanian[edit]

Etymology[edit]

An early loanword from a South Slavic language, ultimately from Proto-Slavic *porǫčiti (to hand to, to leave to somebody), a formation from *rǫka (hand). Compare Serbo-Croatian poručiti (to send word, to inform).[1]
