Adverb

[edit]

resp. (not comparable)

  1. Abbreviation of respectively.
    • 2015 August 16, Chung-Feng Hwang et al., “Hearing Assessment after Treatment of Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma with CRT and IMRT Techniques”, in BioMed Research International[1], volume 2015, →DOI:
The air conduction hearing deterioration at 0.5–4 kHz with and without age-related correction differed significantly at the 2- to 9-year follow-ups (p = 0.02 at 2 years; p < 0.001 at 3 to 9 years, resp.), while the differences were not significant at 1 year after completing RT (p = 0.16) []

Usage notes

[edit]
  • Like the unabbreviated form respectively, this abbreviation is used postfix, as in "X or Y, resp.". Some ESL writers use it infix, as in "X resp. Y" (sometimes with meaning 'or rather; more precisely; i. e.'), by false analogy with German bzw., dated-syntax Danish hhv. as well as Dutch and Swedish resp., but this is not considered correct.
