Blend of rheumatoid arthritis +‎ lupus. Coined by Austrian-born American rheumatologist Peter H. Schur in 1971.

1. (pathology) A rare condition characterized by overlapping features of both rheumatoid arthritis and systemic lupus erythematosus.

[…] In contrast, rheumatoid arthritis and rhupus patients had 30- and 23-fold higher than normal amounts of anti-CCP (p < 0.001, both comparisons).
