Norwegian Nynorsk[edit]
Etymology[edit]
From skit + fiske. Literally, “shitty fishing”. Said to wish opposite luck on the performer so as not to jinx the statement (similar to Russian ни хвоста ни чешуи (ni xvosta ni češui)).
Phrase[edit]
- good luck, break a leg (especially before fishing)
