tailgut (plural tailguts)
- (music, lutherie) A cord which loops through the tailpiece and around the endpin of stringed musical instruments, and which is held at tension by a knot to secure the tailpiece to the body, traditionally made only of gut but now also made of nylon, wire and other synthetic materials.
- (anatomy) The portion of the gut beyond the anus.
