From Proto-Chadic *ḳas-,[1] from Proto-Afroasiatic *ḳas-. Cognate with Blin ŋac, Qimant naš, Kariya kāāsū, Dangaléat kaaso, Ron kyâs, Sha gíʃ, Mundat àgəʃ, Duhwa gəʃ, Miya kúsíy. Compare Egyptian qs.
