Bashkir[edit]

Etymology[edit]

From *keŋäšmä (conference, meeting, consultation), from *keŋäš (advice). See кәңәш (kəñəş) for more.

Appears to be a Central Asian innovation modeled on Russian совещание (soveščanije).

Cognate with Tatar киңәшмә (kiñäşmä), Kyrgyz кеңешме (keŋeşme), Uzbek kengashma, Uyghur كېڭەشمە (kë'ngeshme, conference, meeting, consultation).

Synchronously, кәңәш (kəñəş, advice, counsel) +‎ -мә (-mə, suffix forming an abstract noun related to the action's process or result).

Pronunciation[edit]
