From the nowadays obsolete agent noun предвари́тел (predvarítel, one who anticipates) +‎ -ен (-en) of Old Church Slavonic прѣдъварити (prědŭvariti, to forestall, to anticipate). Compare Russian предвари́ть (predvarítʹ, to anticipate).
